KydmorZ Mountain Railway:
LAYOUT NOW SOLD.
A Z Gauge layout, "KydmorZ Mountain Railway" takes inspiration from the Alishan Forest Railway in Taiwan (although not set there). This is an 86 km network of 2ft 6 in (762 mm) railways running up to and throughout the popular mountain resort of Alishan in Taiwan's Chiayi County. The railway, originally constructed for logging, is itself a tourist attraction with unique Z-shaped turns, fifty tunnels, and over 77 wooden bridges. Taiwan's government has listed the forest railway as a potential World Heritage Site (WHS). Taiwan's exclusion from the United Nations however means it is unlikely to be formally recognized as a WHS in the near future. The layout requires six tunnels and three bridges together with access to the former in the event of derailments. As indicated above, the handful of buildings will be interchangeable between USA & Japanese variants (& possibly Western European) to allow for the running of different country's stock; an idea taken from an ancient copy of "Model Trains International", ie one layout to serve more than one Continent .
